What is one of the favorite cartoon characters for many adults and kids when it comes to Christmas? While you may think of Santa, which is fine, many people find that the Grinch has become just as popular of a figure during the Christmas season as Santa. So much so, that there are tons of movies about the Grinch, as well as the traditional story by Dr. Seuss that many parents read to their children every Christmas. After all, what a beautiful story — the Grinch may want to steal Christmas but in the end his heart grows with the Christmas spirit. While it may be a kid story, many adults are going to find that this theme is something that they experience in their lives as well.
The Rise of Artificial Trees: A Grinch-Style Guide to Eco-Friendly Christmas
With this being said, it makes sense that many people would want their artificial trees to pay homage to the Grinch. No, this doesn’t mean that your artificial christmas trees are bare of any ornaments like the Grinch has come and stolen everything — it means decorating your artificial trees in a way to show the heart growing due to the Christmas spirit for many people. However, for our purposes here, this is all about using your artificial trees to actually resemble the Grinch.
How can it be done? First things first, you need to look at the size of your artificial trees. You are going to find that you need a very skinny tree in order to make this work. However, many people opt for a small two foot tree as well, since it is a project that can be difficult to do with a rather tall tree. Once you have these small artificial trees, you are going to slightly bend the top of this to look as though it is the Santa hat that the Grinch wears that is droopy. Yes, we are talking about bending this tree slightly, which means it will probably always be the Grinch tree — hence why many people opt for a small artificial tree to make this happen and it makes it easier to store for the next year.
After you have this bent, you are going to want to take red ribbon and wrap this around the tree. The goal here is not to weave this between branches, instead you are going to wrap this tight. Kind of like how the Grinch does when he steals the trees from the Who’s houses. From there, you are going to take mini bulb ornaments and scatter these throughout the tightly wrapped tree. You do not have to use a lot, just enough to add some color.
The highlight of the tree is what you do with the tip of the tree that is bent. Get a large green bulb ornament — much like the color of the Grinch, and hang this from the tip of the tree. Ultimately, you have use your artificial trees to create a look that Dr.Seuss himself would love for the Grinch!
